Age 81, of Miamisburg, passed away July 9, 2013, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Born December 11, 1931 in Dayton, Ohio, she was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Grace Westendorf, and two brothers, Robert and Richard Westendorf. Survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Wenzel; son, Michael (Robin) Wenzel of Tucson, AZ; daughters, Susan McCabe and Karen Hatcher of Miamisburg, and Kathleen (Charles) Goodwin of Placitas, NM; grandsons, Bradley (Inka) Lyall, Brett McCabe, Kyle and Brandon Tollett; great-grandsons, Gabriel Roberts and Connor Lyall. Also survived by a brother, Thomas (Joan) Westendorf; sister-in-law, Betty Westendorf; numerous nieces and nephews; close friends, Walt (Judy) Frederick, Joe (Helen) Mott and Eloise Hendrickson. She worked as an X-ray tech in the 1950s, and later managed the Stor-N-Lock on Springboro Pike for 13 years. A devout Catholic, Mary Ellen loved gardening, shopping and going out for pizza, but her family gave her the most enjoyment in life. A memorial Mass will be held 10:30 am on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Emmanuel Catholic Church, 149 Franklin Street Dayton, Ohio 45402 with Fr. Tim Knepper celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to Mass.
