Rarick, John Hugh, age 74, resident of Miamisburg, passed away on December 19th 2023. He was born May 1, 1949 in Akron, Ohio to the late James and Jane (Smith) Rarick. He is preceded in death by his brother, Steve Rarick and sister, Colleen Mattucci.
He is survived by his daughter, Bronwyn (Charlie) Peck; grandchildren, Liam Peck and Quinten Peck; sister, Debbie (John) Kerpsie; sister-in-law, Wendy Rarick; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
John graduated from East High School. John served in the Marine Corps serving as a Corporal in the Vietnam War from 1969-1970. He was proud to serve his country as a Marine. He attended Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College where he earned his craft certificate in painting and decorating from the City and Guilds of London Institute. After college he worked for the Biltmore Estates Restoration Company as well as Evergreene Studios. He worked on restoration projects that included the state capital buildings in Ohio and Pennsylvania, The Pentagon, Flagler College in St. Augustine Florida, Lyndhurst Mansion in Tarrytown NY and many other historic buildings and churches. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf and loved spending time with his grandsons. John recently became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM on Monday, January 8, 2024 at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg, Ohio. Funeral Service will follow at 12:30 PM with Bishop Kingrey officiating. A graveside service will take place at 2pm at Dayton National Cemetery.
