

Jewel is preceded in death by her husband Ed, parents Guy and Velvie Stidham, sister Ruby (Sorrell), and brothers Charles and Elmer.
Jewel is survived by her son Ron Alexander and siblings Earl Stidham, Harold Stidham (Lillian), Kenneth Stidham (Pat), Mary Ann Stidham, Nellie Wilcher (Fred) and numerous nieces and nephews.
In 1953 Jewel’s parents, along with their nine children, moved from the mountains of Virginia to Miamisburg, OH. Jewel graduated from Miamisburg High School in 1954. While in high school Jewel worked at the Philhower’s drugstore soda fountain in downtown Miamisburg. In 1957 she married Ed Alexander for a loving partnership until Ed’s passing in 2004. In 1964 Jewel started her long career at the Mound Facility in Miamisburg from which she retired in 1992. After retirement, Jewel volunteered for many years at the City of Miamisburg Civic Center in the parks and recreation department and other departments. Jewel attended Missionary Baptist Temple in Franklin and United Baptist in Miamisburg.
Jewel and her husband Ed loved to travel. After retirement, their passion for travel and adventure grew. Whether just as a couple, or with family or friends, there was always a road trip on the horizon. She proudly reached a milestone of having visited all 50 states (plus a few international locations). When not traveling, she loved being home tending to her flower gardens.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 26 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home located at 508 East Linden Ave. in Miamisburg. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. with memorial remarks at 2:00 p.m. Following the service, burial will take place at Highland Cemetery, Miamisburg.
