Jean was preceded in death by her parents, and husband of 73 years, George “Ozzie” Garland.
She is survived by her sisters, Barbara Robinett and Mari Lou Marler; daughter, Leslie Ratcliffe; son, Gary Garland and wife Linda; grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Yowler and husband Scott, David Ratcliffe, Annie Meredith Promer and husband Tyler, and Emily Meredith Brooks and husband Chris; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Elizabeth, and Jacob Yowler, and Hallie Evelyn Promer.
Jean was a very active student at Miamisburg High School and graduated in the Class of 1948. Jean worked for a number of years at the Kimberly Clark Paper Mill of West Carrollton. Ozzie and Jean retired from the City of West Carrollton together in 1987. In retirement they traveled across the United States, and also to Canada, Mexico, and Europe.
Jean was a seamstress who enjoyed sewing and making clothes for family and friends. She was also an avid photographer and reader, which she passed along to her children.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg, Ohio.
