RIKE, James Dale age 74 of Miamisburg, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Sycamore Hospital, Miamisburg after collapsing unexpectedly at his residence. Jim was born September 14, 1943 in Brookville, OH to the late Eldin David “John” and Mabel (Norris) Rike. He is survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Carole (Rhoads) Rike; son, David J. (Dawn) Rike of Dayton; step children, Natalie (Dave) Sexton of Colorado and Wes (Missy) Young of Franklin; grandchildren, Brayden, Caleb, Jack, Mitchell, Brooklynn and Noah; sister, Patricia Carlson of Beavercreek; niece and nephew, Dana (Steve) Shaw and Gregg (Cathy) Erbaugh both of Beavercreek and brothers-in-law, Larry (Brenda) Rhoads of Georgia and Gene (Patty) Rhoads of Virginia. Jim was a 1961 graduate of Brookville High School and honorably served for the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam War as an Airman 1st Class specializing in electronics for F104 fighter jets. He completed an Associate degree from Sinclair in computer science and retired as a currency analyst for NCR after 42 years of employment and world travel. Jim and his wife were members of SouthBrook Christian Church, Miamisburg and the Tri-State Traveleers RV club. He enjoyed many artistic hobbies in his free time including pottery, stain-glass, woodworking and photography. Jim will always be remembered as a generous Christian gentleman, devoted husband and father and the best “soccer grandpa” ever! Family will receive guests from 5:00-8:00 pm Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Services will be officiated by Pastor Steve Holt, 10:00 AM Friday, September 22, at SouthBrook Christian Church. A procession to Dayton National cemetery will follow for burial accompanied by military honors.
