

ALLEN, Jacob E. age 92 of Miamisburg passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Dayton VA Medical Center under the Hospice care of Victory Ridge. He was born August 25, 1922 in Miami Township, OH to the late Jacob A. and Mary Ada (Weidel) Allen. In addition to his parents, Jake is preceded in death by his son, Joseph J. Allen; brother, Francis (Lillian) Allen and sister, Wanda Allen. He is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Ruth I. (Evanshine) Allen; children, Rebecca (Dr. Charles) Reier of Greenville and James (Tina) Allen of West Carrollton; grandsons, Benjamin Reier and Captain Eric (Katya) Reier; nephew, David (Diane) Wolf; niece, Diane Jutte; great nephews and niece, Adam (Erin) Wolf, Laura Wolf, Craig (Andrea) Jutte and Paul Jutte as well as many friends and loved ones. Jake was a 1940 graduate of Miamisburg High School having worked during this time at the A & P for 9 cents an hour. Jake honorably served for the United States Navy during WWII as an Aviation Machinist Mate 2nd Class. His career as a carpenter included employment at Monsanto for 22years and with his father at Allen and Son Construction for almost 20 years building many structures and numerous homes in the Miamisburg area. Jake was a kind and generous man, evident in his dedication to Miami Township Fire House #3 as volunteer Lt. for 20 years and his membership with the American Legion, Miamisburg, having served as Past Vice Commander. He was also a member of St. Jacob Lutheran Church, Miamisburg and enjoyed vegetable gardening, fishing and hunting especially turtle, a soup that he was famous for. Additionally Jake was responsible for initiating the March of Dimes fundraiser for the Miami Township Fire Department. Family will receive friends and loved ones from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM Monday, February 9, 2015 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 AM and be officiated by Pastor Michael Hout. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Miamisburg with military honors courtesy of the American Legion Honor Guard.
