Elmer Ray Ray Roberts

Roberts, Elmer R. (Ray) age 83 of Miami Township went from labor to rest Tuesday March 22, 2011 at Sycamore Hospital. Ray was born in Warren County, Indiana to the late Elmer and Lois Roberts. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Phyllis J. (Howland) Roberts and his sister, Wanda Wones. Ray is survived by his daughter Vicki; son, Stephen and special friend, Leona Leiwig; four granddaughters, Alison Ridgway, Kelsey (Michael) Kick, Michelle (Ryan) Baillie and Sara Roberts; a grandson, Nicholas Roberts and great grandchildren, Gavin and Cayson Baillie and soon to be great- granddaughter Carleigh Rae. He is also survived by two honorary grandchildren, Matt, Baylee and Hunter Hughes. Ray held executive positions in areas of advertising, marketing and public relations for Frigidaire Division of General Motors and White Consolidated Industries for thirty-five years, retiring to form his own creative services company known as Words by Ray. His company served many national and local accounts such as Buick and Ford. He was a member of Millennium Blue Lodge, Victory Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, Reese Council of Royal and Select Masons and Commandry No. 68 of Knights Templar. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and The American Legion of Ohio. Ray wrote many short stories, newspaper articles and poems, winning several national awards for his work. He was a member of the Miamisburg Senior Citizens Creative Writers Group and had served in other creative writers groups in the Dayton area. Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2011 at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will begin 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Springboro, Ohio. Burial will take place at David’s Cemetery, Kettering.
