Teresa Perez Fraga “Tere” was born on September 12, 1921 in Marianao, Havana, Cuba and passed away peacefully on March 25, 2021. Tere attended el Colegio La Inmaculada in Havana and would go on to the University of Havana where she graduated with a degree in Public Accounting. She was one of a few women, along with her sister Mercedes Perez Santiso “Mechy” to receive a collegiate degree.
It was at the University of Havana, where Tere met her beloved Manuel Angel Fraga. They would marry and have two daughters, Gladys and Alicia.
Tere and Manuel Angel were exiled to Miami where they raised their daughters and saw their family grow. She was a surrogate mother to Mercy, Lillian, Gaston, Silvia and Candy until their parents came from Cuba. Tere was a gifted seamstress, an amazing cook and always of good cheer and generous heart. She loved to travel and enjoyed the beach, fishing and all that the outdoors had to offer. She especially loved sharing these experiences with her children, grandchildren and grandnephews and taught them all to love and appreciate the precious moments spent surrounded by family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Manuel Angel Fraga, and her daughter, Gladys Fraga Washington. Her parents, Manuel Perez “Melin” and Mercedes Gracia Perez; and her sister Mercedes Perez Santiso.
Tere is survived by her devoted daughter Alicia Fraga Soto and son-in-law, Rey Soto. Her dear grandchildren, Michael Washington and Patricia Washington-Rodriguez, her husband Omar Rodriguez, and her great grandson, Maxx Rodriguez. She will be missed by her nieces, Mercy Santiso Dirube and Lillian Santiso de la Horra; her nephew Gaston Santiso; her cousins Silvia Perez, Puchy Perez Lopez, and Candy Perez Esquivel; her goddaughter Ofelia Schutte Fraga; and all of her grandnieces and grandnephews.
