

Dr. Bernstein, a retired dentist, died at his home in Miramar. Dr. Bernstein retired three years ago after practicing dentistry in Miami Springs, FL for over 50 years. He was a native of Chicago, IL. He attended the University of Illinois College of Dentistry, served two years in the Air Force, and started his practice in Miami Springs in 1959.
Dr. Bernstein loved dentistry and his patients were his extended family. He was extremely talented with his hands and as a hobby practiced metal sculpture, for which he once won first place in a local art contest. He was an avid reader and had a wealth of knowledge about many subjects, as well as a fantastic sense of humor, which he often used to get his patients relaxed. Treatment always started with the joke of the day. He had a zest for travel and traveled the world.
He leaves his wife, Vira; a sister, Sandra; his first wife Ann; four children: Kenneth, Cheryl, Duane, and Glenn; and nine grandchildren: Julian, Evan, Graham, Avery, Reed, Shane, Eva, Nina and Lana; two nephews and one niece.
Funeral services will be held on 2 pm Tuesday at Lakeside Memorial Park, 10301 NW 25th St., Miami FL 33172, 305-592-0690.
