Shirley O. Wooster Jr., 84, passed away June 14, 2016. He was born to the late Mary Virginia Wooster and Shirley Wooster Sr. in Suffolk, VA. He is an alumni of the University of Virginia and graduated from the College of Architecture. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army. He was partner in Russell Wooster Associates. His projects included the Florida State Office Building. He was one of the original members of the Bankers Club. He was also an architect with dear friend and mentor Charlie Cheezem in the designing of Charlestowne and development of Brickell Key. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he served as an architect and engineer. Beyond his accomplishments, Shirley was a true southern gentleman and a family man before all else. He is survived by his bride of nearly 40 years, Georgette M. Wooster, whom he married August 25th, 1977. His love and selflessness was shown in his devotion to his sons Joseph Antonell and Michael Antonell, their wives Mercedes Antonell and Cheryl Antonell, and grandchildren Cristina Antonell, Jacquelyn Lee, Christopher Antonell, and Daniel Antonell. Other family includes Michael O. Wooster, wife Wendy Wooster, and two children. When not spending time with his wife and family, he enjoyed building model ships, collecting artwork, and tending to his yard. He is affectionately remembered for his sharp wit, Cuba Vera shirts, and wedding band which he swore he’d never take off, and he never did. A private celebration of life will be held. Donations in his name can be made to the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association, or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
