Dear Sarah,
Remembering your beautiful spirit today on your birthday.

I am very saddened to hear about the tragic news. I have very fond memories of Sarah, she brought so much life and energy to all our meetings at the RVC and I very much enjoyed our conversations and interactions. What a light the world has lost! My thoughts are with her family and friends during this difficult time of heart-breaking loss. May you find strength and solace in loving and warm memories.

Totally heartbroken and stunned to hear, only today, about this terrible tragedy.  Sarah was an utter delight,  full of such vibrant passion, fun and goodness.  From our time together collecting schistosomes when I first met her back in 2011 in Pemba/Zanzibar – and the brilliantly chaotic joy she brought to all -  to having the true pleasure to teach her and supervise her excellent One Health MSc thesis here at the Royal Veterinary College in 2020-2021, she was unforgettable.  What a profound loss to the world – she had so much to give and gave already in her far too short life.  My heart bleeds for her family, but hope they can draw some comfort in knowing quite so many people loved and respected her.  Rest in Peace now dearest Sarah.

Doctor Sarah,
Your aura shone bright, and the love that surrounded you was apparent to anyone who crossed your path. Her compassion and humility stayed with me since the first time I spoke with her. The tender relationship she had with Michael was so pure, it always touched me and reminded me of my own father.

Sarah was a wonderful person and a gifted and empathetic veterinarian.  I was blessed with the opportunity to mentor her as a new veterinarian and then as a friend for many years to come. I volunteer at the PetSmart store where Sarah used to work at the Banfield Vet clinic. She came by one day, introduced herself and we chatted. She was in love with all our adoptable felines, and she wanted to adopt a kitten. One day, she made her choice, a sweet tortie (some call a dark calico) named Poppy. I am so glad she did because Poppy (renamed Pinhead Larry) became her close companion.

Sarah and I weren’t close but we went to high school together at Kent Place. She was in my class and the school was a totally new environment for me, but not for her. With that, she is vividly in my memory as one of the first people to try to welcome me as a new 9th grader. She was open and gracious in that way, truly full of life. She was always bubbly and funny, and brought great energy to our class. More recently we reconnected via social media and just in the last couple years she took time to help me address concerns I was having with my adopted pup’s anxiety. She was clearly a kind soul and I can’t believe she’s gone from us so soon. Sending love and peace to all her family and closer friends.

The moment I heard the news it felt unreal. We had just spoken to each other not so long ago. Your last words to me were “I love you jessie ❤️” One of the most sweet, down to earth people I have ever come across. I was showered with not only love but knowledge from Sarah. She showed me what compassion and dedication was and it is something I will cherish forever. It breaks my heart that she is gone but she has left her mark on so many people and our favorite memories of her will help her beautiful spirit still shine everyday. May you rest in peace my queen. You will be missed by so many.

However you knew her, there was one thing that never changed and it was the kindness she always radiated. As a current vet student and a former technician that worked with her- my heart is broken. The vet world lost a very very special human. She inspired me in many ways and never failed to radiate her compassion towards both people and our companions even in the toughest of times. I was Sarah's classmate at Kent Place. When I think of my adolescence, Sarah is a prominent figure. She was incredibly bright, smart, and so funny. I was Sarah's 10th grade English teacher at Kent Place. From the minute I met her, I knew she was someone very special. Sarah was beautiful and brilliant, spirited and inspired, irreverent and intense. She challenged me in all sorts of wonderful ways; she brought laughter and wit to every class discussion; she stood out as a very bright light in a school full of smart, ambitious girls. I lost touch with her for awhile but found her again on social media. I followed her path through veterinary school and numerous other degrees and accomplishments with awe and admiration. She was always happy to consult with me on several occasions when my dogs were ill or injured. She was and will always be a very special person in my heart. I am sorry the world has lost such a gorgeous talent, but I hope she is at peace now and surrounded by lots of animals, particularly cats.
