Robert David Pamplin

Known to his friends as Bob, he was the son of the late Robert Frederick Pamplin and Catherine Smythe Pamplin. Bob was born September 22, 1952 in Chelsea/London, United Kingdom. He was educated at Cardinal Vaughn Memorial School and Lancaster University.

Bob had a career in the management consulting industry that spanned three decades. He became the youngest ever partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1985, and became the global partner for Insurance, based in New York City. Bob mentored many consultants and partners, leaving a legacy of successful leaders and friends. He retired from PWC several years after it was acquired by IBM in 2002. Bob went on to provide independent consulting for a number of years, retiring in 2014 after he and his wife moved to Miami, Florida.

Bob was an extroardinary and supportive husband and father. His big personality and love of life was infectious, and brought happiness and joy to all his family and friends. He was an avid sportsman, a footballer (soccer), skier and golfer. While he enjoyed watching and participating in many sports, his biggest affection went to Chelsea Football Club. Bob was an excellent amateur chef, patron of music and art, and loved to listen to live music of every genre. He also enjoyed spending time with the two family dogs, Cooper and Keiko.

Bob is survived by his wife, Laurie Bowen Pamplin of Miami; and his two children - son, James Alexander Pamplin (33), and daughter, Joanna Catherine Pamplin (31), both of London, United Kingdom. He is also survived by his two sisters, Catherine Bernard and Susan Harding who reside in the United Kingdom.

Caballero Rivero Coral Gables Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial Service, followed by a Celebration of Life, will be held on Wednesday the 19th of October at 7 pm at the Coral Reef Yacht Club in Miami, Florida. Everyone is welcome. A Celebration of Life will also be held in London on the 3rd of November, venue to be confirmed.
