Ramon Ramos, beloved father, grandfather,great grandfather, and friend to all, passed away on March 29, 2019 at the age of 88. Ramon was born in Puerto Rico, moved to New York in 1946, and settled his family in Miami in 1974. He owned Lemon City Market for 22 years, and he became a respected business leader in the Lemon City and Little Haiti communities. He and his wife, Aida, were community activists in Wynwood and were very active at Corpus Christi Church and in community outreach programs and civic initiatives.
Ramon was instrumental in helping Father Jose Luis Menendez complete the San Juan Bautista Mission in Wynwood. In his efforts to raise money for the completion of the mission, Ramon founded the San Juan Bautista Music Festival, which was held in its inaugural year at the Corpus Christi Church grounds and was subsequently held annually at Bayfront Park. Ramon and Aida Ramos' community leadership resulted in Univision 23 spotlighting their achievements on their Nuestro Orgullo segment.
Ramon will be missed by all who knew him. He was an honorable, thoughtful, loving and dependable family man. He had a big heart, which held a special place for family, his beloved Puerto Rico, and the United States of America.
