Millicent Margaret Wong-Drake, 74, of Miami, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, March 3, 2024. Millie, as she was fondly called, was born in Kingston, Jamaica, the daughter of Moses Yee and Iris Yee (nee Chin Loy). While in Jamaica, she was an expert hairdresser who was loved by all her clients, some of whom became her life-long friends. When she migrated to Miami, Florida, she turned to her love of cooking and changed path to catering for events, both large and small.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 23 years, Stuart ‘Brian’ Drake; her ex-husband and father of her children, Lloyd ‘Tony’ Wong; her brother William ‘Peng’ Yee (spouse Maureen); her sisters Shiela Young, Patricia Lee (spouse Lawrence) and Carole Yee. She will be profoundly missed by her children, Nicolene Wong and Robert Wong, her daughter-in-law Anya (nee DeSouza), and grandchildren Ashleigh, Ariane and Aiden. She will also be missed by cousins, nieces and nephews, other family members, the many children she played a part in nurturing and friends.
A Memorial Mass in celebration of her life will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Rosary – St. Richard Catholic Church, 7500 SW 152nd Street, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157. Cheerful colors welcomed.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for the St. Vincent de Paul Society Ozanam Home for the Aged in Jamaica. Checks should be made payable to ‘Ozanam Home for the Aged’.
