Michele "Mikki" Meyer
June 10, 1949 - August 21, 2024
Hudson Valley, New York - Dr. Michele "Mikki" Meyer, therapist, educator, entrepreneur, loving mother and sister, died Aug. 21st in Washington, D.C. She was 75.
Born and raised in Miami, Mikki graduated from Southwest High and went on to the University of South Florida, Florida International University and then earned her PhD in psychology from Union Institute & University.
After she and her late husband Frank Meyer moved to Chappaqua, New York in 1982, Mikki started a successful marriage and family therapy practice in New York City and Chappaqua, later moving to the Hudson Valley. A former president of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, she participated in broadcast and newspaper interviews, and served on the New York State Department of Education Board of Professions.
In Miami, she was co-owner of The Famous on Miami Beach. In New York, she owned and managed Mid-Hudson Professional Offices in Highland, as well as Stonewall Farms, a film, event and vacation venue in the Hudson Valley.
She is survived by daughter Jana Abel (Bennett), son Ryan Meyer of Los Angeles, grandchildren Jack and Lily, and sisters Diane Preuss (Cliff), Robin Landers (Rick) and brother Scott Landers (Monica), as well as boyfriend Howie Schwartz.
Mikki's life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapel, 5900 SW 77th Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the American Cancer Society.
