She passed away February 21, 2022 at her home in Miami, Florida surrounded by her family at the age of 75 years.
Martha grew up in Costa Rica and came to New York with her mother in August, 1963. Martha was 16 years old. She attended school in Rockville Centre, New York and graduated from South Side High School in 1965. While in New York she met Oscar Arias, also from Costa Rica (San Jose). They married in 1970. They had two sons born while in New York. In 1985, the family moved to Costa Rica and stayed there until 1989. The family later moved to Miami, Florida where they have made their home for 32 years.
Martha was a faithful and loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend.
She worked at Baptist Hospital in Miami for 18 years. She was most of all a homemaker, excellent cook, and enjoyed growing beautiful flowers with her husband, especially roses.
Martha was kind, beautiful, smart, hardworking, classy, and overall a lovely lady. She dearly loved and enjoyed being with her grandchildren. Her last text message sent to us said, "God bless my grandchildren." She will be greatly missed.
Martha is survived by her husband of 51 years, Oscar.
Son, Michael, and wife, Jordan, and two grandchildren, Hadassah, 11 and Samuel, 7, who reside in Yukon, Oklahoma.
Son, Blake, and granddaughter Asialee, 2 years old, of Miami, Florida,
Her mother, Luisa, 94, who resided in her home with her in Miami. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Nicomedes Ramirez.
Viewing is Thursday, March 3rd from 5 - 9 pm at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South, 11655 SW 117th Ave, Miami, Florida 33186. Flowers may be sent to this location on March 3rd after 3 pm (EST). The funeral home kindly requests no glass vases.
A funeral mass will occur Friday, March 4th from 12 - 1 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 11291 SW 142 Avenue, Miami, Florida 33186. The mass will be live-streamed via the following link: https://www.ololourdes.org/CatholicChurch.php. Go to the middle of the page and under the mass schedule you will see a monitor. Once the mass begins, you will see it on the monitor.
Burial will follow at 1:30 pm at Caballero Rivero Dade South, 14200 SW 117 Ave, Miami, Florida 33186.
