Our mother, Maria, born in Socorro, New Mexico, was the eldest of six siblings. She was a small lady but was a giant in strength and courage. Early on she was very involved with the church and developed her talent for music. She came from a musically gifted family, and she applied those gifts to the school and church. She sang in the church choir and was part of the school’s orchestra. And like others in her family, she had a beautiful singing voice. She was an accomplished pianist, cellist, and violinist, and she passed this musical gift to her son, Randy.
After high school, she started working for the phone company, where she had an illustrious career of over 40 years. In the late 1960’s, she met and then married her first husband, Reinaldo Del Sol and had her son, Randy Del Sol. At a young age, she became widowed. On June 11th, 1984, she married Jesus Neptali Malo. Together, they had their daughter, Monique Malo, who inherited her compassionate and strong spirit.
Maria was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Throughout the years, she prepared us to flourish in this world. She raised us to be caring, strong, and independent. This is not goodbye. We know that she is at peace. She is the heart of our family, and we will honor her memory by keeping her legacy alive.
She is survived by her daughter, Monique Malo, son, Randy Del Sol, daughter in law, Guadalupe Del Sol, granddaughters, Gabriela Del Sol and Natalya Abadia.
