Maria Amalia Fernandez del Cueto, a Cuban expatriate passed away last Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012. " Amalia" was a staunch opposer of the Castro regime in Cuba and served 18 years as a political prisoner before being granted asylum in the U.S. In 2010, Amalia was officially recognized by the United States Congress as a "valiant fighter for the liberation of Cuba." A viewing will be held this Friday, Nov.30 at Memorial Plan Kendall, 7355 S.W.117 Ave from 6-10 pm with a graveside service at 2:15 pm on Saturday.
