Born in Habana, Cuba, on July 11, 1954, Maira brought with her a vibrant spirit and a deep love for life when she made Miami her home. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Ocean Bank, where she was known for her dedication and reliability. But her true legacy lies in the way she loved — fiercely, fully, and without hesitation.
Maira was the proud mother of one child, but she opened her heart to her entire family as if they were her own. She was an amazing mother, not just in title, but in the way she lived — nurturing, guiding, and supporting everyone around her with endless love and strength. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and comfort — where no one ever felt like a guest, only family.
She had a deep connection to music — it was her joy, her escape, and the rhythm of her soul. She adored the Bee Gees, danced to disco, and found energy in old school rock and salsa. Music followed her everywhere, echoing her fun-loving and free-spirited nature.
Maira had a special flair for style, especially when it came to her love of vintage treasures and graphic tees. Her unique taste and sense of nostalgia made her stand out — she had a way of bringing the past into the present with charm and grace.
She was the heart of her family, the one who always made things feel a little lighter, a little brighter. Her passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her memory will live on in every song, every shared story, and every moment of laughter around the dinner table.
A religious ceremony in honor of Maira’s life will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 2987 W Flagler St, Miami, FL 33125. A burial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn North, 3260 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33135.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated.
Rest in peace, Maira — your song plays on in all of us. ♥
