Wow, Joe. I came looking for you and this is what I found. I'm profoundly sorry.  I grew up with Joe and Debbie. Joe was always like a best friend/big brother to me. I was always the chubby awkward kid and he was the hot, athletic, guy that was adored by all the girls and he took me under his wing and showed me the ropes. He would introduce me as his cousin and this made the other kids think twice before messing with me. I wasn't the only stray he picked up. I remember a kid named Joey who was new to the school. His Mom was alone, very poor, and always working and I recall he said he was going to have a turkey TV dinner by himself for thanksgiving that year. Joe was so torn up over that kid that he invited him over for thanksgiving diner so he would have a good meal and not be all alone. I remember he told me , "that kid eating that crap all alone breaks my heart man, I have to do something" and he did. That was joe in a nutshell, an enormous heart of gold. I remember getting into so much trouble with him but it made for wonderful life-long memories. He was always optimistic, fearless and devoted to having a good time. He set me up with the woman I would eventually marry and become the mother of my child. The last time I saw him was about 20 years ago. I drove by his mothers house on 14 Court and he ran out and gave me a bear hug like no time at all had passed between us. That night we went out clubbing until the wee hours of the morning. I'm glad that's the last memory I have of him. I wish I could have made more. My condolences to all who loved him.

We must have been 14 or 15 years old, we were at the Florida Bible college and it was Sadie Hopkins day, and I chose Joe as my date! . I had a huge, huge crush on him. We hung out as teenagers… then we lost touch but I saw him again when  The family owned the monkey bar on South Beach. Again we lost touch and did not hear from him for years, until Facebook came up then we became friends again. Apparently he unfriended me after years…  I was thinking about him for the past few months, so I googled his name, and now I see he has passed away. My heart is broken, what happened to him?. May he be in gods glory for an eternity and rest in peace.. my sincere condolences to his sister Debbie and his mother. 🙏🏼🦋
