Johnny Iglesias, 41, of Miami, FL, died on October 9th, 2023.
He was born in Miami in 1982 to Alicia & Francisco Iglesias. Johnny was a sweet, funny, mischievous little boy. He was the apple of his mother’s eye. The little boy in him would live within him until his last day with us. Johnny started playing baseball at 5 years old, and quickly fell in love with the sport. He played baseball throughout his childhood and into highschool. He also played football in high school. He attended Southwest Miami Senior High before going on to study at Miami Dade College. Johnny’s love of sports would follow him into his adult life, where he moonlighted as a baseball coach for many years.
Johnny met the love of his life, Melissa Hernandez in 1996 while attending high school. They were high school sweethearts, with him proposing the night of their Senior Prom. Johnny and Melissa started a family of their own, and their children meant the world to him. His whole life was about his family. Johnathan Isaiah Iglesias was born on March 2nd, 2007 and Jayda Isabella Iglesias was born on September 22nd, 2012.
Everyone who knew Johnny knew how much he loved coaching baseball. Sports was his passion and he loved kids. He dedicated a big part of his life to coaching and so was proud of each one of the players he coached. He was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves, San Francisco 49ers, and Miami Hurricanes.
Johnny will always be remembered for his youthful spirit and the way that he was always making everyone laugh. We’ll always imagine hearing them say “FRED” one more time. We will miss Johnny every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Francisco Iglesias Sr., and is survived by his wife, Melissa Hernandez, his kids, Jonathan and Jayda Iglesias, his mother, Alicia Iglesias, his brother, Francisco Iglesias Jr., his sister, Janet Iglesias, and his nieces and nephews, Denise Iglesias, Giancarlo Acosta-Iglesias, and Giulian Iglesias.
