John Howard Curry, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and esteemed economist, passed away peacefully on February 17th, 2024, in Miami, Florida, at the age of 83, after bravely battling cancer and other complications for six years.
Born on August 2nd, 1940, to Richard and Evelyn Curry, John was known for his unwavering work ethic and determination from an early age. A proud graduate of The Ohio State University, he earned his Commission as a Foreign Service Officer in 1966, embarking on a distinguished 24-year career with the U.S. Department of State. Throughout his tenure, John served his country with honor and distinction, holding diplomatic posts in countries spanning from Mexico to Tunisia to Nicaragua, where he met and married his cherished wife of 44 years, Patricia, affectionately known as "The Queen."
In addition to his illustrious career in diplomacy and economics, John's proudest role was that of a devoted family man. A loving father with an infectious sense of humor, he delighted in sharing jokes and stories with his children and grandchildren. Despite facing adversity in his later years, John remained steadfast in his love and devotion to his family, never complaining and always prioritizing quality time with those he held dear.
John's legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Patricia; his children, Jeff J., John Patrick,Donald M and Evelyn Maria; his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sisters, Pamela and Christine; and his brother, Joey Curry. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Richard L. Curry Jr.
A man of profound wisdom, compassion, and integrity, John Howard Curry will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he find eternal peace and solace in the arms of the angels, forever remembered and cherished in our hearts.
A visitation for John will be held Monday, February 26, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South, 11655 SW 117 Ave, Miami, Florida 33186. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Raymond of Penafort Catholic Church, 3475 SW 17 St, Miami, Florida 33145. A burial will occur Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Woodlawn Park South, 11655 SW 117 Ave, Miami, Florida 33186.
