JJ was one of the most wonderful best friends that my late husband Michael had. They talked almost every day. May they have found beautiful peace together.

Hello Katie and family of Jim,

This is Johan Suyderhoud, a fellow Novo Collegian and UM med school friend of your dear Pa, and I just learned of your Dad's passing the other day.  I extend to you my most heartfelt condolences for your sorrow and loss.  I've know you and your sibs since you all were babes, but only back then.  Probably the passing of  18 months has assuaged your grief somewhat, but it will always be there.  I too grieve deeply for the passing of Jim, and while we did not converse as often as we should have, he was nevertheless such an important person in my life, a soulmate, as we shared so many yuk yuks at NC and UM, and indeed he guided me carefully to see the beauty of a career in anesthesiology which I too embraced and am forever thankful to him for.  We talked in the most recent years about his losses, of his love May especially, but also of his love for his expanding family and grandkids.  As we age, we all look forward to sharing and renewing  time with those who were so pivotal in earlier times, and that was something I had dearly hoped to do with your Pa. Alas - don't put off what you can do, even if only incrementally, is what your dad's passing teaches me.  He indeed all possessed all the great things you wrote about him, and then some.   I will never forget his irreverent sense of humor and deep guffaws.  
I hope you are still looking at this memory book from time to time, and that you'll do me the kindness of contacting me when you have time, at my email address.  Just so I can hear what his last years were like, and how all of you are adjusting.  I  just learned the other day about our joint very dear friend Sharon Matola's death this weekend at age 66, and was trying to contact him about this news when  discovered that J cubed ( which is how we called you Dad, the King of Shorts indeed!), had preceded her.

I’m so sorry to see this. I knew Jimmy from Boy Scouts.  We went through scouting together at Troop 1, sponsored by Central Baptist Church.  We had lost touch with each other and with my recent retirement I was hoping to reconnect with some old friends. We had some great times in scouting and growing up in Miami during simpler times. Sorry I missed you.  Wishing the best to the family.

Jimmy was always so kind. He was wonderful physician, teacher, healer, and friend. He was a remarkable man. He is missed now and always.

He was one of my favorite teachers. When I graduated he said, he would let me take care of his family any-day! I treasured those words, especially coming from him. My heartfelt condolences to his family.   He will always be remembered.

Dr. Jacque will always hold a special place in my heart. He genuinely cared about others and it was shown daily. He commonly referred to me as his “work daughter” which still makes me smile. My favorite memories were the frequent FaceTime interactions with his grandchildren. He would find me so he could show them off and I loved how his whole face would light up when interacting with the grands. He was a wonderful man that will be incredibly missed. 

A great Christian man that finally gets to see his wife again.  I will cherish all the laughs we had together.  Rest In Peace my friend.

Wonderful man.   So blessed to have known him since the beginning of my medical career.  He taught me so much and most importantly I learned to pray with you my patients.   He was always a good friend and I’ll cherish my memories.  

I loved Jimmy.  He was a joy to work with and was a good friend. Welcome home Jimmy. We’ll see each other soon. 

Jim was always a very kind and soft spoken person in my dealings with him over the years in Corinth.  I hated to hear of his passing.  Had spoken with him recently and he was genuinely asking about others  as usual.

I loved working with Dr. Jaque.  He was always so good and kind to my patients and to me. His patients loved and coveted his prayers.  They often requested his presence for their surgeries.  He was a wonderful doctor and touched so many lives.   He loved his children and talked about them often. 

Loved doing cases with Dr. Jaque.... he would always correct me when I said Dr. Jaque to him... he would say, “call me Jimmy”.... I told him I doubt that will ever happen..... many great conversations with him in the lounge... RIP friend

I had the pleasure of scribing  on the EMR for Dr. Jacque. He cared for multiple family members during surgery as well. He was always happy and never  had a bad word to say. I’ll never forget the time he told that he rented a camel and dressed up as a wise man to surprise his family at Christmas. He was definitely a family man with a huge heart. He will be missed!

I had the privilege of working with Dr Jacque at the surgery center at MRHC . He was a wonderful man, doctor, and teacher . He cared for his patients as well as his co workers , and he loved his family and friends . We shared many laughs and I am blessed to have known him .  He was not only a mentor , but also a friend . Rest In Peace , Dr.Jacque.

Great Doc.  I enjoyed my time working with him and learning from him. I’m better for having known him. 

I had the privilege of working with Dr. Jacque at MRHC, but the memory I will cherish the most about Dr. Jacque is the day  my grandson was born (Lil Bear). He showed not only expertise in the work he provided that day, but also great compassion. For this he will always be admired by me as a great healthcare provider. 

Dr Jacque was one of the first people I met when I started working in SICU. When he found out I was an “old nurse” just new to MRHC we shared many memories of past years in the medical field. He was always ready to teach and explain. His smile brightened many a day. Prayers for his family. 

A talented physician and precious friend, you will be missed by so many. Until we meet in the halls again...

I worked with Dr. Jacque at MRHC. He was a wonderful doctor to work with. He always had a smile and a hug for me when he strolled through SICU! He loved his patients, and prayed with each and every one before surgery. He was one of my biggest cheerleaders when I told him I was applying for CRNA school! He was one of the first ones I told when I got accepted. I will never forget the years I spent getting to know him at Magnolia! Sending my love and prayers to his family! 

I had the privilege of working with Dr. Jacque in a professional setting but the honor of seeing him from the patients point of view. He was kind and caring and a truly good man. I will miss his sense of humor and hearing favorite stories. 

You touched the lives of many and taught many of us nurses both pieces of knowledge as well as ways to be compassionate to our patients. You will be missed by so many. Rest peacefully, Dr. Jacque. 

Dr. Jacque will always hold a fond place in my heart. He loved to teach and made it his mission to share his wealth of knowledge with anyone who was willing to listen. He helped mold me into the the nurse I am today. I know he is so happy to be reunited with Mae, but we will miss him dearly. 

There are people on your journey who provide words and encouragement with such insight and depth that you take a piece of them with you. 
Dr Jacques provided encouragement as a teacher doctor, a parent, a colleague, and a friend. He prayed with his patients.  He taught with brilliance.  And he loved passionately his friends, family and medicine.  I will be forever grateful for the days he took time for me.  

Jimmy was an amazing doctor, but most of all he was a good friend.   I will forever miss his sweet hugs in the hall.   I can only imagine the hugs that were exchanged between him and May when they were reunited.   I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a man love a woman like he did.   Forever in our hearts 💕 

I was so sorry to hear of Dr Jacque’s passing. I first met him  when he came to visit MRHC before coming to work there. He was always so kind to me and I considered him a friend. 

I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Jacque when he first came to Corinth.  I consider my self fortunate to  have  worked with such a knowledgeable and caring physician but more importantly a true friend.  He became one of those people in life that would always provide me with open, honest feedback when I needed it most.  Several years ago Dr. Jacque wrote me a letter of recommendation for the Nightingale Award. The letter still continues to be something that I treasure.  If I am struggling I read it and it never fails to lift my spirits.  My heart is sad for those of us lost your earthly presence but so happy that he is rejoicing with May!  

Loved this man so much! Worked with him for all his years at MRHC. Great man. Sad he is gone but rejoicing that he is in a better place and is with his sweet May once again. He will be missed by so many that love him. 

I’m a nurse at MRHC where I met Dr. Jacque. He was always great to work with. A blessing to his pts, praying with them before surgery.  Praying for the families comfort. Rest In Peace with your sweet May!


Dr. Jacque was a very good man and doctor. He will be missed and I am so thankful for him, he saved my life in 2010 when I coded on the surgery table from some type of dye that another doctor used on me.  RIP my friend.

My husband and I were next door neighbors of Dr. Jacques for several years and always enjoyed him as a neighbor and as a friend.  We will miss him.

Dr Jacque was a special person who always prayed with his patients and showed the love of Christ to all he met.We often spoke of spiritual issues and prayed for each other.I miss seeing him at the hospital but our loss is heaven’s gain.

I got to know Dr. Jacque when he came to work at a Magnolia. I am a surgery tech and got to know him through work  He became friends with my family and always had words of encouragement for my children, they also counted him as a friend. We are saddened by the loss but know that he is pain free now. Rest In Peace our dear friend. 

We will miss you, but you are now in your sweet Mays arms!

Jim was a remarkable physician who made all his patients feel special and relaxed. God Speed Jim, it was such a pleasure to know you!

Dr. Jacque was a good man. 
It saddens me to learn of his demise.
Angel introduced us when he came to Corinth.
I enjoyed knowing him.
