With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Hugh Aubrey Sturge Webster, beloved husband and father, on April 8, 2025. Hugh was a devoted husband to his wife of 53 years, a steadfast father, and a man of unwavering principles and quiet strength.
Hugh Aubrey Sturge Webster, a man of warmth, dedication, and vibrant spirit, passed away peacefully on April 8th, 2025, after a courageous battle with terminal cancer. He was born on December 1st, 1941, in Mandeville, Jamaica, to the late David and Carmen Webster. Hugh's life was marked by love, service, and a deep connection to his family and community.
Hugh grew up in Jamaica alongside his siblings, Donald, Pat, and Lois. He graduated from Monroe College. He was going to study medicine but hated blood. Instead, he built a successful career at Barclay's Bank, rising to the position of Bank Manager, where he was known for his integrity and professionalism. In 1978, he embarked on a new chapter, immigrating to the United States, and initially worked in accounting before finding his passion as a Surveyor at Campanile & Associates. He enjoyed getting out from behind the desk and working in the field.
Hugh was a man of many passions. He found joy in the strategic play of dominoes, the rhythm of dance, and the melodies of music. He was an avid gardener, mixologist, and experimental chef. He possessed a generous spirit and was deeply committed to giving back to his community, always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Vere-Lyn Nepaul, his daughters Stacy, Lesley, and Meika and their spouses (his other sons) Stas and Kemar, many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.
His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for his charisma, kindness, sense of humor, infectious laughter, and his unwavering dedication to his loved ones.
We invite family, friends, and all who knew Hugh to join us in honoring his life and legacy.
