Howard Golden, M.D., was born in New York City in 1935, and moved to Miami in 1944 with his family. He graduated from Miami High in 1953 and attended Emory University, where he met Sheila Lubin, his beloved wife-to-be. They married in 1957. She was the love of his life; they were married for forty years. Sheila predeceased him in 1997. Howard graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1960. After interning at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, he entered the Air Force as a medical officer, serving at Hahn Air Force base in Germany. He returned to Miami in 1963 to begin a residency in Psychiatry. In 1966, he began private practice at the DuPont Plaza in downtown Miami. During his career, he held an appointment as Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at U of M, where he taught medical students and supervised psychiatrists-in-training. He served as president of the South Florida Psychiatric Society and was a Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He enjoyed a fifteen-year loving relationship with Shelley Koch, who predeceased him in 2014. He will be missed by his three children Polly, Lilly, and Andrew; their spouses Scott Beam, Garth Battista, and Jill Horwitz; grandchildren Emily and Natalie Beam, Isabel and Rose Battista, Ginger and Sienna Golden; sister Meraida Polak; and his dear friends.

A funeral service for Howard will be held Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapels at Mount Nebo (Kendall), 5900 SW 77th Ave, Miami, FL 33143.
