Faye Yvette Angel Geronemus, 1944-2015, was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Sister. She has been an unbelievable fighter throughout the last five years and she is now at peace. She passed knowing that she was loved by her family and friends and that everyday was a gift. She was kind, compassionate, funny, loving and always cared more about the welfare of others than that of her own, even through her battle. Born in Pittsburgh and raised in Miami, Faye graduated from Newcomb College at Tulane University where she met the love of her life and husband, Richard. They married on June 25, 1967, and lived in New York and South Carolina before settling in Plantation, Florida to raise their family. Faye was a social worker, teacher, guidance counselor, and philanthropist. Faye lived her life to the fullest with no regrets. Throughout her battle with Leukemia she never complained and always said "it is what it is". Faye is survived by her husband Richard, children Melanie and Kees Smit, Adam and Mara Geronemus, and Hillary and Tom Truslow; her 6 grandchildren Abigail, Zachary, Sam, Sydney, Alexandra, and Thijs; her sisters and brothers Marcia Steele, Gay and Chuck Taylor, and Jeffrey and Joann Angel. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. at Temple Kol Ami Emanuel, 8200 Peters Rd., Plantation, Florida, followed by a burial service at Mount Nebo Memorial Gardens Kendall, 5900 SW 77th Ave, Miami, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in her honor to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
