Elvira A. Rodriguez-Arredondo, widow of Dr. Regino Rodriguez Sanchez, died Monday, June 15, 2015. Mamama, as loving family members called her, was born in Havana, Cuba on November 28, 1920. She graduated from the University of Havana with a doctorate degree in Education and taught English at La Escuela Normal, a teachers' college in Havana, until 1961 when she and her family came to exile in the U.S. In Miami, she worked as a social worker after the death of her husband who passed away when their three children were still teenagers. Mamama valued education highly and made sure that all three children graduated from college. She also supported her youngest son, Carlos, while he attended medical school.
It's not possible to put into words our love and gratitude for having such a caring, wonderful mother. Thank you, mamama, for everything you did for all of us and for the wonderful memories shared throughout the years. Your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will always keep a special place for you in their heart.
