Elroy John Allen (Kenny) was born in Spanish Town Jamaica on February 22, 1953 to Henrietta Kirkpatrick and John Allen. Growing up he attended Crescent Primary and Dinthill Technical High School. After graduation he was employed as a Telegraph Operator at Jamintel. It was during this time that he met Maureen McLaughlin. In December of 1977 the two of them would be married and become the parents to three children, Judy-Ann, Johnathan, and Janel.
Elroy was a true family man who worked diligently to provide for his wife and children. He worked at American Bankers Insurance Group (Assurant Solutions) for over 25 years and later was employed at FIU. He always worked with a strong sense of pride and commitment to both his job and coworkers. Outside of work he enjoyed playing sports, particularly soccer, and working with his hands on DIY projects around the house.
Elroy had a very quiet disposition but always left an endearing impression on others. He was a devoted friend who would always greet you with a sincere smile. He loved to see the good in people and wouldn’t think twice before going out of his way to help someone in need. He didn’t tolerate negative commentary but instead believed that there was always a solution and a silver lining.
On November 24th he was called to rest with his Lord and Savior. He fought through his illness, never complaining and remaining steadfast in his faith. He was a true child of God always holding firmly onto His promise of mercy and grace. Words cannot describe how much he will be missed.
