George was born on September 9th, 1932 in Jamaica to mother Ida Chinsee (Miss Ida) and father Percival Chinsee. He was the fifth of eight children born to Miss Ida. George was sent to China as a young boy to complete his education. In China, he attended Shanghai Medical College where he obtained his medical degree and later worked as a virologist at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in Beijing, China. While a student at the Medical College, he met Annie, who was also studying to become a doctor.
As a young man, George had many hobbies. He liked to swim, play tennis, dabbled in photography and loved to travel. His favorite show was “Judge Judy”, which he watched every episode without fail, so much that his afternoon schedule revolved around when the show was aired.
Annie was born on July 10th, 1933 to mother Sun Foo Jee and father Li Choi (Henry Li) in Shanghai, China. She was the second of three daughters. Annie’s father Henry was born in Trinidad and was educated at the University of London where he met Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Henry later became Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s personal translator after moving to China. After graduating from Shanghai Medical College, Annie worked at the Beijing Friendship Hospital in China as a physician. In Jamaica, George and Annie continued their medical practices, he in Montego Bay and she in Savanna La Mar.
Annie had varied interests. As a child she played the piano and studied Mathematics. Later in life she learned to sew, made floral arrangements, painted pictures of various botanical flowers on fabric and was a budding author. She spoke several Chinese dialects and Russian and taught herself Spanish. She also hosted several videos on YouTube on how to speak Hakka and Mandarin Chinese dialects.
George and Annie were connected by their shared love of classical music, watching pro sports on TV and of course, their beloved dogs. Over the years, they raised several dogs which were treated as members of their family. Annie’s dogs were trained to be bilingual, responding to English as well as Chinese commands.
George and Annie are survived by their daughter Rosie.
George is survived by his brother Owen and sister Iris.
Annie is survived by her sister Hetty and lifelong best friend Zhongmei Guo.
George and Annie will forever be remembered as loving parents, brother, sister, aunt, uncle and friend.
A memorial service for Lloyd George & Annie will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by an inurnment from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
