Donald Ira Kaufman (70) passed away peacefully in his home, July 11, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones, after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born September 7, 1947 in New York to the late Charles (Choo-Choo) and Lillian Kaufman. They moved to Miami Beach in 1967 where they opened Charles Kaufman Enterprises Fine Jewelry in the historic Seybold Building. In 1970, he married the love of his life, Barbara Reimer and they shared 48 wonderful years working and living together. They raised two daughters, Wendy and Nikki who he adored. Donny was a family man who was loving and warm, funny and kind. The coolest dad ever! Donny will be remembered by his special friends and extended family. He also believed in giving back to the community and he was active as a founder at Mount Sinai Hospital, the Miami Beach JCC and the Diabetes Research Institute as well as numerous other charities. He was a legend in the jewelry industry, known not only for his impeccable reputation but for his incredible taste and knowledge in rare and unusual jewelry. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters Wendy (Kiva Kolstein) and Nikki (Michael Simkins); grandchildren Charlie and Benny Gandola, Shia Kolstein, Jaden, Eli and Harper Simkins; his sister Bertha Dulberg and brother Stuart Kaufman. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the charity of your choice.
