Delia was born to Amparo Rosado and Alejandro Rivera on June 30th, 1936 in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. She moved to New York City, NY as a teenager. There, she met the love of her life, and Father to her four children, Jesus M. Oquendo, and married in 1957.
Delia was a strong mother and a caring wife. She was loved by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her. She loved life and fought to the end to stay with her family and not leave her husband.
Delia is preceded in death by her mother and father, her son Raymond Oquendo, her brother Carlos Rivera, and all the family and friends we have lost along the way.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jesus Manuel, her sons and daughter-in-laws, Jay and Amy Oquendo, Raphael and Lisa Oquendo, her daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Gibran Kalaf, and her grandchildren Rachael and Lucas Oquendo.
There are no words to describe the sorrow we are feeling of our loss. Thankfully, she passed away peacefully in her sleep. Our grief is profound, but we are also thankful she is at peace. We are blessed we were able to have her for 86 years. Thank you mom for being the best wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, Godmother, and friend. We love you mom, we miss you so much. Bendición.
