Carmen was born in Santiago, Cuba, and was one of seven children. She was married to her beloved husband, Juan Carlos, for 48 years before he passed away in 2001. They left Cuba in 1962 to the United States for a better life and opportunity for their family and settled in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where they raised their four children. Carmen moved to South Florida with her husband in 1981, where she lived until her passing.
Carmen is survived by four children: Juan Moragas of Wellington, Florida; Maria Kahl of Davie, Florida; Edward Moragas of Ponte Vedra, Florida; and Jacqueline Laggy of Sunrise, Florida. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Carmen was best known to her family and close friends as Muchy, and “Abi” to her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Carmen loved music, the arts, and literature, but her most memorable times were with her family. She always displayed an engaging smile with a twinkle in her eye.
The family is having a private service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
