Carlos “Carucho” Benitez passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 22, 2024. Born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, he left his homeland in 1967 to escape communism and seek a better life in the United States. Once here, he embraced the American Dream with unwavering determination. Carucho worked tirelessly to build a successful business in New Jersey, embodying the spirit of hard work, perseverance, and resilience.
Carucho was a strong and proud man who dedicated his life to providing for his family. He loved baseball, this country, and his daughter deeply. His belief in the opportunities and freedoms offered by the United States drove him to strive for success, not just for himself but for the future generations of his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Olivia; his grandchildren, Kristina, Eric, and Stephen; and his great-grandchildren, Fritz and Rome. Carlos was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Olivia.
Carucho’s enduring spirit and love for his family will forever be remembered. We hope they serve whiskey in heaven.
