Zora “Mickey” Padilla, a homemaker and a member of Celebration Church went to Heaven to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 29, 2013, following an extended time of illness. “Mickey” was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Padilla, her sons, Terry Padilla and Michael Padilla, and her mother, Eula Edwards. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Dennis Watson (pastor of Celebration Church), and by her grandchildren, Kristina Watson Walker (and husband James) of Tampa, Fl, Dennis Watson II of New Orleans, Michael Padilla (and wife Jenna) of Ft Myers, Fl, and Tyler Padilla of Jacksonville, Fl. She also leaves behind many friends, and her great-grandsons, Brandon, Triston and Ashton Walker, who will greatly miss their “Granny.”
“Mickey” was always involved in encouraging and helping others, and she loved serving in the ministry of Celebration Church. She also loved cooking, crafting, dining, sewing, shopping, traveling and spending time with family members and friends. She had the most pleasant of attitudes and a great perspective of life, even though she endured much hardship for much of her life. She will be fondly remembered as someone who greatly loved the Lord and people. Many awards will be given to her in Heaven.
Friends, relatives and Celebration members are invited to attend the memorial service in honor of Mrs. Padilla on Saturday, January 4, at 11 am, at the Metairie Campus of Celebration Church (2001 Airline Drive). Visitation will begin at 9:30 am. A subsequent service for family and friends will be held in Bell, Florida on Friday, January 10, at the Padilla Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the “Accomplish the Vision” initiative of Celebration Church (2001 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana, 70001).
