William “Bill” Resseguet, Jr., age 72, passed away on Wednesday February 27, 2013. Loving father of Brett Jenkins, Michelle Keiser, Renée Verver, Danielle Resseguet and Nicole Williamson. Proud grandfather of Bailey Schehr, Jay and Charles Jenkins, Kendall, Kaylynn and Kolbie Keiser. Brother of Lillian Resseguet.
William was born in Detroit, MI and grew up in New Orleans, LA. Graduate of Fortier High School, attended L.S.U. and proudly served in the U.S. Air National Guard. Mr. Resseguet began training race horses in 1960 and quickly became one of the nations leading trainers. His horses won hundreds of races including the Ohio Derby, the Hollywood Park, the Juvenile and the Arlington-Washington Futurity. William also owned and trained Our Native who finished 3rd place behind Secretariat in the 1973 Kentucky Derby and Preakness. Bill’s passion led him to become one of the leading trainers at many of the race tracks over the years. An owner of Racquet Ball One, he was retired at the time of his passing.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3601 Transcontinental Dr., Metairie on Saturday March 9, 2013 at 11:00am.
