William Joseph "Charlie" Blanke Jr.

William Joseph “Charlie” Blanke, Jr., age 89, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014. Beloved husband of the late Marion Jones Blanke and still born child. Son of the late William J. Blanke, Sr. and Josephine Ray Blanke. Brother of the late John H. Blanke, Mabel Blanke Johnson and Katherine Blanke Montalbano. Survived by his only daughter Peggy Blanke Sherwood, son-in-law William T. Sherwood. Also survived by granddaughters Dr. Katherine Sherwood White, Elizabeth R. Sherwood, Victoria Sherwood Boppert and great grandchildren Evelyn C. White, Thomas Edward White and his much loved nieces and nephews.

A native of New Orleans and a resident of Metairie, LA. Mr. Blanke honorably served aboard the USS Minneapolis during WWII and was employed as an operating engineer at the Lowes State Theater, Jung Hotel and USDA Southern Regional Research Laboratory.

Relatives, friends of the family and staff of Patio Drugs are invited to attend the Funeral Mass from Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home Chapel 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 11:00 am. Visitation will take place Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Thursday 9:00 am until the time of the service. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
