Warren J. Meyer, Sr.

Warren John Meyer, Sr. passed away peacefully at his Hammond residence on Saturday, December 26, 2020. He was 98. Beloved husband for more than 69 years of the late Dorothy Galway Meyer. Loving father of Warren J. Meyer, Jr. (and wife, Lucy) and Pamela Wallace (and husband, Richard). Devoted grandfather of Christine Solomon (and husband, Frank) Lisa Eck (and husband, Timmy) Karen Ruiz (and husband, Robert). Proud great-grandfather of Kenny and Tara Meyer, Connor Eck, Brandon and Cody Solomon and Savannah and Olivia Ruiz. Brother of John Meyer and Lois Pfefferle. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Irene Meyer, his sisters Shirley Giroir and Patricia Faia, and his grandson Warren Meyer III.

Warren served his country honorably during World War II in the Army Air Force, stationed at Selman Field in Monroe, Louisiana, attached to the Medics Dental Clinic and attaining the rank of Sergeant. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he worked 38 years for Pfister Dental Laboratory in New Orleans as a dental technician. Upon his retirement, he operated his own dental laboratory for several years. Throughout his years, Warren enjoyed the game of golf as a regular on the City Park courses. Caring for others, Warren volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels to home-bound seniors. He attended Manresa House of Retreats every spring for 31 years.

Warren was a former longtime parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Metairie, a devoted father, who dearly loved his family and will be loved and remembered by all who knew him. He later relocated with his wife to the Hammond area, spending many happy years together and becoming parishioners of Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Summerfield Senior Living of Hammond for their dedicated care of Warren during his final days.

A private Memorial Mass was held on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Burial followed at St. Patrick Cemetery #1.
