Vilma Esther Castillo Drewitz lived to be 91 years old and passed into eternal rest in the early morning hours of September 28, 2023. Born in Panama City, Panama, and widowed at the young age of 21, she lived the vast majority of her life in various places in the United States, having ultimately settled in her true home of New Orleans, LA. While visiting her mother and stepfather in Tacoma, Washington and attending the army NCO club with them, she met a US soldier, Ulrich Drewitz. They became husband and wife and were married for 61 years. She held many jobs including flight attendant for TACA airlines, several secretarial positions, obtained her real estate license and became an agent. Her most important job though was that of wife and mother. She is preceded in death by her mother Raquel Wilkin while she is survived by her loving husband Ulrich (Uli), her daughter Rachel Piercey, son Troy Drewitz and his wife, Helga, grandchildren Sean Paisant, Alexander Drewitz, Frederick Drewitz and Ericka Drewitz, as well as two great grandchildren Margot and Archer Paisant. To those who knew her, she was often the “life of the party.” She, and her larger than life personality and laugh, will be missed by all. There will be a small service for immediate family members only.
