Vickie (Victoria) Lynn Henry, 67, a longtime resident of New Orleans, passed away on July 31, 2023 at home. She was born on February 7, 1956 in Alexandria, LA, to Elliot Louis Henry and Lorraine Mae Gremillion Henry. Vickie moved to New Orleans soon after high school and worked for the zoo and in PR before joining HRI Properties.
Vickie moved to the Netherlands in 1993 and started Galerie Gris Gris with her friend Elizabeth Levy Kleinveld. In 1995 she opened an events firm in Amsterdam serving major corporate clients such as MCI Worldcom. After ten years in the Netherlands, she moved back to New Orleans and started working again for HRI where she was a leasing agent consultant for twenty years. Vickie was nominated for numerous awards, such as the New Orleans Apartment Association's Annual Awards of Excellence, in which she was acknowledged for her outstanding leasing statistics in the City of New Orleans. Many of the residents with whom she spoke moved down to New Orleans and chose to live at Rivergarden just based on a conversation with Vickie, As Debbie Taullie, HRI's Director of Operations, said at her memorial, "Victoria had the gift of gab and could make anyone feel at ease. She truly loved both her work and her city and shared the best of both with all considering making New Orleans their home!"
Vickie loved good food and wine and could light up the room with her joie de vivre, especially at some of her regular haunts such as Herb Saint, Brennan's and the Sazerac.
She is survived by her sister, Cheryl Henry Sulfstede and her daughters, Robyn Sulfstede Benefield and Lauren Sulfstede Dorough and her children, Brooklyn and Griffin. She will be missed by all of her family, friends and colleagues and especially by Meisje, her pet Chihuahua who went everywhere with her.
