Terry Joseph Meyer, Sr. was called home unexpectedly, but peacefully, in his sleep on February 11, 2022 to be reunited with the only love of his life, Josephine Ann “Jo Ann” Arcuri Meyer who passed away in 2016, days before their 60th wedding anniversary. That’s when Lynne began her journey walking in her mom’s footsteps to love and care for her dad unselfishly. Terry left behind to cherish his memory two wonderful sons, Terry Jr. (Patty), Wayne (Penney); his beautiful daughter, Lynne; four grandchildren, Kayla M. Barre’ (Brent), Amanda (fiancé Matt), Ryan (Gina), and Cody Meyer and one great-granddaughter, Layla Barre’. He is also survived by his half-sister, Jane Clouate; his stepsister, Phyllis Guillot, a brother-in-law, Charles Arcuri (Pam) and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Terry was born in New Orleans to the late Joseph “Tibby” Meyer and Helen Putfark Meyer on July 11, 1934. He graduated from Holy Cross High School and Soule’ Business College in New Orleans. He was employed as an auditor/accountant/tax preparer for the accounting firms of C. Weiss & Co. and then Duplantier, Hrapmann, Hogan, & Maher. He semi-retired around the age of 65, but continued to work part-time until this past October when he decided to completely retire from D.H.H.&M after 43 years of employment. He really enjoyed traveling to his clients’ businesses to do their audits. His other pleasures were the Saints, Mardi Gras, grilling, and going to the Smokey Mountains with Mom. He was a season ticket holder for the Saints’ first couple of years in old Tulane Stadium, and thought they were going to win the Super Bowl every year (at least that’s what he told us). That wish was joyously fulfilled in the 2009 season. If you wanted to get him talking, you only had to mention math, numbers, old movies or the Saints. He also thoroughly enjoyed going to his weekly Thursday dinners with Ryan and Gina, running errands every Friday with Wayne and going to dinner at Randazzo’s with Lynne. He was a loving husband, dad, Pawpaw, uncle and friend to many others. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed forever.
