Rose C. Brocato Ray, 92, of Metairie, passed away on February 26, 2023. Rose was born on October 14, 1930, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to her loving parents, Anna Serio Brocato and Vincent Brocato. After graduating high school, she decided to learn the ways of life. She was always excited about serving the community and holding a career in retail. She worked as a young lady at a beauty salon and a record store where she met her late husband, George J. Ray Sr., and Elvis. Rose and George went on to have four children, Michael P. Ray, Catherine R. Molaison, Diana M. Ray, and George J. Ray Jr. Rose was a woman of faith and loyal to all she met. At the age of 82, she retired from serving her community at Big Lots for over 12 years. Rose loved spending time in the garden, doing crossword puzzles, and cooking/baking her famous Italian dishes and treats. She loved to travel and explore the world. Rose was a woman who knew what she wanted and stuck to it; a woman who gave life to all those she came across and saw nothing but the best while doing it. She was a woman of family, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her the most joy. She will always be our angel, Rosie.
Rose is predeceased by her parents, Anna and Vincent Brocato, husband George J. Ray Sr. siblings Joe Brocato, Natch Brocato, Johnny Brocato, Charlie Brocato, Annie Stevens, and Sarah Serio. She is survived by her sister Lucille Biesel, children Michael, Catherine, Diana, and George Jr., eight grandchildren Courtney Lane, Christopher Ray, Renée G. Whitley, Aaron Gilmore, Sarah G. Larson, Ryan Gilmore, George Ray III, Olivia Molaison, 13 great-grandchildren, nieces/nephews, and great nieces/nephews.
