Rodney Jay Dupuy, Jr., a long-time resident of the Metairie area, passed away Saturday the 19th of August. Born on August 25, 1936 in Avoyelles Parish, Rodney spent most of his adult life in or around the New Orleans area with a short relocation to Florida. Rodney and wife, Lois, owned several small grocery stores in New Orleans throughout their years together. After leaving the grocery business he worked for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office as a Process Server. He retired in 2017 to care for Lois until her death in February 2020.
Rodney was the beloved husband of Lois, for 61 years. He is survived by son Michael Morgan and wife Susan, Granddaughter Tiffany Morgan-King, and husband Justin. Three Great Grandsons, who he called the Three Amigos, Peyton, Paxton and Porter. Siblings the late Joanne Slocum. He also leaves to mourn his passing a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Rodney was proceeded in death by his parents Rodney Joseph Dupuy and Ernestine Guillory Dupuy.
Rodney was a devout Catholic. He served as a Eucharistic Minister and Usher for many years. He was also a recipient of the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Thursday evening, August 24, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Friday, August 25, 2023 at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 4921 W. Metairie Avenue, Metairie, LA beginning at 10:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
