Michael "Mike" James L’Hommedieu, of River Ridge, LA, passed away on October 17, 2023 at Ochsner Medical Center in Jefferson, Louisiana. Mike was born on January 25, 1980 at West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, Louisiana. He graduated from West Jefferson High School in 1999.
Mike proudly possessed a Transportation Worker Identification Credential/Card (TWIC) to support his career in the Warehouse and Logistics industry. Mike was a loyal employee for 17 years for Ensemble Office Essentials that changed hands (My Office Products, HiTouch Business Services) until the last buyout by Staples Inc. Mike was extremely excited to be hired in early 2023 by O'Reilly Auto Parts, to where he achieved the distinction of being the top delivery driver each month, up until his hospitalization.
Mike was known for his great sense of humor and kind disposition, always willing to help friends and family. He was proud of his wide circle of friends who loved him. He also had a deep interest in all types of sports, stand-up comedy, and weather reports to where he happily informed friends and co-workers what Mother Nature might bring each day of the week. In the evenings, Mike liked to unwind in front of the television to watch crime shows and ESPN. However, as everyone well knew, his greatest passion was football. He jokingly referred to himself as a “football nerd," and never gave up on his favorite football team, the Saints. Mike also had a great love for animals. Mike was extremely blessed to have his four-legged furry ‘children’ Shelby (Maltese/Poodle), Tyson (Pug) and Khaleesi ‘Leesie’ (Harlequin Great Dane) as companions in his life.
Mike is survived by his sister Amanda (L’Hommedieu) Risteen; brother-in-law Jonathan (Risteen); nieces Amanda, Jessica, Jennifer, and Cecelia; and nephew Colin. Michael was preceded in death by his father, James L’Hommedieu; his mother, Catherine (Gieseler) L’Hommedieu; and his brother, Keith L’Hommedieu.
A Celebration of Life for Michael will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Metairie, LA 70006 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. followed by a chapel service.
