Mr. Melvin Joseph Landry died peacefully in his sister’s home on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the age of 57. Melvin is survived by his sister Brenda Kane, his brothers Roy Landry and Michael Landry, his nieces and nephew, and his sweet dog Zack. He is preceded in death by his loving husband John Hoelker and his parents Roy and Joyce Landry.
Melvin was born on March 8, 1961 in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from Bonnabel High School. He met his husband John in New Orleans and they went on to live a great and happy life together for over 25 years. They moved from New Orleans to St. Louis, Atlanta, and finally to Florida where they took a permanent residence in St. Petersburg. They made some very dear and close friends during their time together whom they loved like family.
Melvin worked as a customer service rep for Macy’s, surrounded by many friends and colleagues. He loved to dress up as Santa each year and even grew out his bread to accurately play the part. One other thing he enjoyed to do with his spare time was go to Disneyworld with his yearly fast pass, ensuring he didn’t miss any new rides or attractions.
Melvin was also a talented artist and crafter and spent a lot of his time crafting beautiful flower pieces, painting scenic landscapes and baking. He especially loved to bake cookies at Christmas time. He enjoyed dining out with his friends and never missed an opportunity for southern hometown dishes when he visited his family in New Orleans. He has touched so many people’s lives and will be truly missed by everyone that knew and loved him. Condolences may be left for the family at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com
