Melanie Ilene McDowell

Melanie Ilene McDowell was born on November 21, 1991 in Kenner, LA at Kenner Regional Hospital. Melanie graduated from Alfred Bonnabel High School in 2010 and attended Southeastern Louisiana University. She was an employee at Laitram Industries in Harahan, La.

Melanie loved cooking; she had a natural ability for it. She made the best gumbo among other dishes. She also could mix up a drink like nobody else could. Melanie loved to shop for just about anything. She loved to do her hair and makeup even if she had nowhere to go.

Melanie leaves to cherish her memory her son, Liam Jeffrey McDowell; her mother and father, Harold and Carolyn McDowell; her sister, Janelle (Justin) Smith; her brother, Harold Christopher (Jessica) McDowell; her baby sister, Maya (Nicholaus) Johnson; nieces and nephews, Justin Jr., Jordyn, Zion, Ziggy, Aniyah, and Aaron. Her grandmother, Pauline Scott, as well as a host of loving uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Cleon Charles Floyd III.

A visitation for Melanie will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM. Following the visitation will be a celebration of life at 5:00 PM at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Metairie, Louisiana 70006.
