Melania Fernandez Outes

Melania Tajes Fernandez Outes, 82 years old, passed on peacefully to be with our Lord, Wednesday January 24, 2024 at 9:11pm. She was surrounded by family and loved ones, after fighting a brave battle with terminal cancer.

Melania was a native of Spain(Galicia), born on May 25 1941, daughter of the late Ramon Fernandez(father) and daughter of the late Manuela Tajes Fernandez(mother). Melania was survived by her brother Ramon Fernandez "Moncho" (Metairie LA) and her brother Avelino Fernandez "Nino". Sister of the late Josephina Formosa Fernandez.

Melania soon then met her soulmate and partner for life. Beloved husband, the late Jose Ramon Outes. Their bond of marriage went on for 48 years together residing in Kenner LA as husband and wife. Daughter Melanie born in Spain, daughter Eva Marie (Mario) born in Brooklyn NY, and daughter Nancy (Jason) Metairie LA.

Survived by loved ones and several nieces and nephews residing in both Spain and Kenner LA. Melania retired a professional seamstress (Bilingual) with Classic Cleaners in Metairie LA alterations department starting in the 1980's. In the year 2006 Melanie was then working exclusively, as the personal seamstress of alterations for the New Orleans saints! "who dat" until she retired in 2022.

Although most of her time was with surviving grandchildren Julian Jose (Gretna), Gabriel Alberto (Gretna), Kayla Elizabeth (New Orleans, LA) and Sophy (Kenner).

She loved gardening at home and binge watching her favorite shows on Netflix. Melanie was a parishioner of San Jeronimo Iglesia En Kenner City. Relatives, loved ones, friends and family are all invited to attend a memorial gathering at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., in Metairie LA, on Saturday February 3, 2024. Reception beginning at 10 am with Memorial Mass to follow at 1pm, inside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel.
