Mary Elizabeth Motter Satterfield

Mary M. Satterfield, at the age of 86, passed away to be with the Lord on Monday, September 30, 2013. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Solavia Motter, and the sister of her late siblings, George Motter, Estelle Housar, Essene Fodel, Juanita Black, Albert Motter, Lillian Suber, and Theodore “Pete” Motter. Her first husband, Bobby James, predeceased her in 1993, and her second husband, Gary Satterfield, predeceased her in 1984.

She is survived by her children, Carol Wasmuth and her husband, Kent, Robert James and his wife, Lisa, Theresa Yardas and her husband, Vince, and Stephen James and his wife, Carol; her grandchildren Kirsten Behler and her husband, Dino, Adam Sibley and his wife, Lauren, Sarah Lore and her husband, Ryan, Melissa Kinney and her husband, Chris, Devon James, Ross James, and his wife, Anastasia, and Julie James; and her great grandchildren, Dino Behler, Jr., Bryce Behler, Brendyn Behler, Jaden Kinney, Cillian Kinney, Morrigan Kinney, Mia Lore, and Olivia Lore.

Mary was a retired employee of the Eustis Insurance Co. She fell in love with the New Orleans area, and knew she would call it home when, after dark, she first rode over the Industrial Canal Bridge and saw the skyline of the city lights. She was a resident of the New Orleans area since 1956. Mary was very active with the Harahan Senior Friends. She also loved her overnight casino trips with her senior friends.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr. Metairie, LA; on Saturday, October 5, 2013. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until service time. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed on line at www.gardenofmemories.com
