Mary Byer Liswood succumbed on January 13, 2014 at the age of 105 in Katy, Texas,
surrounded by her loved ones. Born December 15, 1908, she lived a life of love, happiness, unselfish giving to others, devotion to her family, trust and honor. She was a righteous woman, and a woman of valor. Having been a teacher for all of her career,
she influenced so many students toward educated, moral and ethical lives.
Her family was her greatest concern and source of continuous love. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Sarah and Leon Byer, her brother, Victor Byer and the love of her life, her husband, Sidney Liswood, whom together, had a marriage like no
other....a model relationship that some can only hope for. She is survived by daughters, Keren Ann Liswood and Judy Stokes (Chuck); grandsons, Neil Melancon (Sherry), Josh Stokes and Sidney Joel Stokes who lovingly called her Mimi. They were her light and heart.
Special love and gratitude is extended to her angels on earth, Essie Simmons and Nikki Wemimo who cared for her with compassion, dignity, skill, and love. What a blessing they were to Mary and her family.
“She will be missed by all who knew her, were touched by her friendship, and embraced by her love. May she always rest in peace.”
