Mario Osorio Sr.

Mario Osorio Sr. passed away on November 19, 2019 at the age of 82. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Gloria Osorio. He is survived by his children; Carolina Rangel (Gustavo), Mario Osorio Jr. (Sheila), Amanda Sacco (Gregory), Ronald Osorio (Gina) and Ana Maria Vega (Ricardo). Grandfather of Jonathan, Jacqueline and Joshua Rangel, Mario III (Katie), Lauren and Carolina Osorio, Amanda Neely (Randy), Monique Briseno, Victoria and Francesca Sacco, Katrina and Daniela Osorio, Ariana and Andres Vega. Great Grandfather of Emily Briseno, Emma Osorio and Linea Osorio.

Mario was a father-like figure to his numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; Mario Osorio and Julia Zavala and his five siblings, Dora Isabel Zavala, Rafael Osorio, Berta Osorio, Armando Osorio and Lidia de Soriano. He will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

Mario was born in El Salvador on November 29, 1936. He had many accomplishments in his life, both in El Salvador and the United States. He was a professional soccer player in El Salvador. He was an Executive in the field of Public Relations and Marketing in El Salvador. He and his loving wife made the move to the United States in 1973 with their family when he accepted the position of Consul General of El Salvador in New Orleans. He later moved to San Francisco where he lived and worked for the next 40 years, before returning to New Orleans in 2014.

After Mario retired he spent a great deal of time being involved with his church community. He taught adult Sunday school for many years and enjoyed teaching God’s Word any opportunity that he could through his preaching. He was truly dedicated to his faith and his family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Mario’s Life on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006 at 11AM. A visitation will begin at 9AM until the service time. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum in New Orleans.
