Lucille “Lucy” T. Kovacs, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 21, 2016 and born on October 31,1939, age 76. Beloved wife of George H. Kovacs for over 48 years. Loving mother of Melissa, Christine and Gary Kovacs. Proud grandmother of her only grandchild Logan Kovacs. Daughter of the late Herbert and Corinne Thomas. Sister of Loretta Keane, and her brother, Ralph Thomas. Preceded in death by sisters, Sylvia Fallo, June Guidry, Jane Blanchard and Joycelyn Ferrell.
Lucy worked as a secretary at K&B for approximately 25 years. After retirement, she took care of countless family and friends' children, making her a mother type figure to numerous people. Lucy loved children, and touched many lives with this love. However, she was particularly fond of her own kids. She was a good listener, devoted to her family, and will be greatly missed.
Lucy was a huge sports fan who enjoyed watching baseball and football but her true passion was bowling. In her younger years she was an avid bowler at Bridge Bowl, where she met the love of her life, George. She is well known at many of the bowling alleys' throughout the city and continued bowling until 2003. She was a devote Catholic parishioner at St. Mary Magdalen and rarely missed mass.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm followed by a Mass of a Catholic Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Church 6425 W. Metairie Ave. in Metairie. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mrs. Lucy's memorial fund through Capital One, account number 5630358703, preferred.
